움직인다는 것은 살아 있다는 것이다. 플래시 애니메이션 The Sentimental 연작은 기하학적 도형의 행보를 시간 속에서 보다 역동적으로 드러내며 작업의 ‘유기적’ 측면을 극대화하고 있다. 논리적 기하학과는 상반돼 보이는 센티멘털한 음악에 맞춰 도형들을 안무함으로써 불가피한 인간의 정서, ‘감상(感傷)’의 당위성을 추상(抽象)하는 이 작업들은 ‘유기적 기하학적 모순’의 극복을 위한 하나의 시도라 할 수 있다.
Complementary Installation이라는 부제의 The Sentimental 8은 요아힘 로드리고의 ‘기도와 춤’이라는 기타 곡에서 기도 부분만 편집한 후, 그 음악에 맞춰 사각의 도형들을 안무한 작품이다. 흑백 도치된 두 개의 채널이 예배당의 벽과 바닥에 동시에 투사되는데, 순차적으로 구동되는 두 영상은 이미지와 음악이 지속적으로 어긋나며 미묘한 불협화음을 일으킨다. 대비적 삶의 모든 것을 암시하고 있다고 할 수 있다.

The Sentimental is a flash animation series that maximizes ‘organic’ facets of geometric figures in order to reveal their dynamic movements with a sense of time. This experimentation attempts to overcome the apparent ‘contradiction of organic geometry’ by representing geometry choreographed with sentimental music to emphasize the notion of opposite sides of logical geometry. It is an abstract expression of the unavoidable human sense to justify ‘appreciation’. The Sentimental 8 subtitled Complementary Installation choreographed rectangles with trimmings of the guitar from ‘Invocacion Y Danza’ by Joaquin Rodrigo. While turning upside-down, two channels are simultaneously projected on to the chapel wall and floor. There is a subtle sense of dissonance between the two channels that create contradictory running images and music, questioning the notion of a contradictory life.
