This is a documentation of interview with Bik Van der Pol, the curator of the project Married by Powers from NERIRI KIRURU HARARA, SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016. Filmed in the storage of the Seoul Museum of Art, the documents their discussion on the selection process of the museum’s collection and the artworks that shaped the parameters of the project. Married by Powers by Bik Van der Pol is the Seoul iteration of a project originally presented in 2002 with the Frac collection in France. For this version, 139 works from the museum’s collection were pre-selected to form the basis of a relay exhibition curated by six guest curators. Through this process, participants from diverse backgrounds offered new interpretations and approaches to the existing collection, exploring a structure for the continuous production of art knowledge.
