This event was a performance by Kyung Ae RO, a participating artist of the 10th Seoul Mediacity Biennale Eu Zên.

Kyung Ae RO majored in choreography at EDDC (European Dance Development Centre) in the Netherlands. In 2005, RO co-established vzwCABRA in collaboration with European choreographers and has worked with this group to this day. In 2010, she was awarded the Grand Prize at the Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF) and selected as the performing director for the 2012 Asia Culture Center and the New Art Trend of Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (SFAC). The selected projects are Unspecific Language (Seoul Performing Arts Festival; Tanztage Festival of Potsdam, Germany; Imaginarius Festival, Portugal, 2010–2011), Two Aspect (SeoulYokohama Dance Connection, 2011–2012), MARS (Festival Bo:m, 2013), Tape Measure–/Station (Nam June Paik Art Center, 2015), and Combining Placing +, (Platform-L Contemporary Art Center, 2016).

Shifting standard began with the concept that we can design a new route for civilization with an unknown destination. The “standard” drives the existing order and the conceptual system by changing itself. During the changing process, however, what happens to excluded movements (elements) that are peripheral to the standard? Movement is the driving force not only of choreography but also of life. This project is about the axis, the rules, and the standard of motion. Through this piece, RO, as an individual who lives a life in the real world, proposes an alternative choreographic standard for the new era based on her own perspective on the world.
