In Space and Perception 1990-1, the artist activates the perspective of a spectator at a soccer stadium. The image that covers the hemispherical surface is deep-set in intaglio and depicts the three-dimensional experience of watching a soccer game at an open-air stadium, surrounded by densely packed rows of other spectators. In the same way that one might experience a stadium environment and its surrounding scenery, viewers can clearly see the backs of the heads of people sitting nearby, the rectangular shape of the stadium, the dot-like spectators on the other side of the field, and the sky above—all of which are embedded within this small hemispherical structure.
