This is a video documentation of the lecture “Record of 1980s Gut (Shamanic rituals) and Education” by pedagogist Kim In-hoe, held on October 29, 2014. The lecture was the first session of Part 5, “East Asian Mythology, Education, and Art,” of the conference Miracles, Violence, Disorders and Spirits (괴력난신), co-organized by SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2014 and the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation. Drawing on his experience recording major Gut (Korean shamanic rituals) on video during the 1980s, Kim explores the educational values he discovered in Gut and discusses potential alternatives.
