This is a video documentation of the lecture “Grandmothers’ Words and Voices” by MBC radio producer Sang-il Choi, held on October 25, 2014. The program opened Part 3, “From the Other Side of Voice,” of the conference Miracles, Violence, Disorders and Spirits (괴력난신), co-organized by SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2014 and the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation. Sang-il Choi, known for radio programs such as On the Journey Looking for Our Songs, together with writer Jiyeon Kim, recomposed elderly ladies’ songs accompanying their labor hours, folk songs, chats, shaman songs, and shared with the audience the power and time spent by women who exist on the other side of these voices.
